April 2020:  Our guest this month is Joseph V. DeMarco

This is a webcast you won’t want to miss. The topic couldn’t be more timely: How can you work more securely from home?

Yes, most of us have worked from home, at least on occasion or on nights and weekends. But this time is different. Many of us will be in "work from home" (WFH) mode for a longer period than we have before. And it is important to recognize that this could make us, and the companies we work for, more vulnerable to security breaches.

The good news is: there are smart people who can help you understand and mitigate those risks. Joseph V. DeMarco is one of those people. Joseph is the founding partner of DeVore & DeMarco LLP, a boutique law firm practicing exclusively in the law of data privacy and security and cybercrime prevention and response. In our webcast, Mr. DeMarco explains WFH vulnerabilities and suggests how companies and individuals can mitigate them.

March 2020: Interview With Stewart Baker

March 2020:  Our guest this month is Stewart Baker.

Steptoe partner Stewart Baker knows a few things about cybersecurity and privacy. He was general counsel of the NSA in the early 1990s. He was one of the first lawyers hired to help create the Department of Homeland Security. If he hasn’t seen it all, he’s seen as much as anyone.

These days, he’s the lawyer you want on speed dial when you have a related problem. He also hosts an influential cybersecurity podcast. He will talk about some of the tricky issues he advises clients on, and what he sees down the road. He will also address some of the ways things haven’t changed as much as you might think (the Cypto Wars and the U.S.-EU privacy tussle).

February 2020: Interview With Dr. Fred Cohen

February 2020:  Our guest this month is Dr. Fred Cohen.

It’s not every day that we get to talk to a true cybersecurity pioneer. But this week we will have as our guest Dr. Fred Cohen, who, as a graduate student in the early 1980s, invented the computer virus (no kidding). Not to unleash it on the world, but to….

Well, why don’t you watch our webcast and hear him explain it himself? And more important, hear all the ways he’s been working with lawyers on the issues that are very much on our minds today.

Fred Cohen has had tremendous success working with companies and their legal departments to secure their digital environments and facilitate communication among all the supporting players—on the tech side and legal. He’s also frequently hired as an expert witness in litigation.

January 2020:  Our guest this month is Erez Liebermann, the Chief Cybersecurity and Privacy Counsel at Prudential Financial, and one of the leading in-house cybersecurity lawyers in the United States.

After spending nearly a decade at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in New Jersey, where he worked his way up to supervising not only the cyber section, but all white-collar units, Liebermann took a job in-house. He’s now Prudential Financial's top cybersecurity lawyer.

An experienced and popular public speaker, Liebermann shares why he decided to move in-house, what his experience has been, and what he recommends to other in-house lawyers interested in building their expertise in this fast-growing field.

December 2019:  Our guest this month is Paul Rosenzweig, who has been involved in critical cybersecurity issues from the very outset of this still relatively new and fast-growing specialty area.

How do you measure cybersecurity? Right now, the answer is pretty clear. Nobody knows. But Paul Rosenzweig is on the case. And he’s convinced that if we figure this out, the answer will be really valuable to all of us (as he’ll explain). Rosenzweig was one of the earliest lawyers hired by the brand new Department of Homeland Security. His work now ranges from teaching cybersecurity at the George Washington School of Law, to advising big-name clients through his work at The Chertoff Group, to trying to measure cybersecurity at the Washington think tank R Street Institute.

November 2019:  Our guests this month are former Verizon GC Randy Milch, now Co-Chair of the NYU Center for Cybersecurity, and Francesca Lulgjuraj, assistant GC & compliance director at Starr Companies.

Randy is also Co-Director of NYU's new Master of Science in Cybersecurity Risk and Strategy program, and Francesca graduated in the inaugural class last May.

It's a 12-month program designed for midcareer executives who continue to work full-time while they earn their degree. Why did Randy decide this was what he wanted to do after retiring from Verizon? And why was it important that the program includes courses in technology as well as law?

Why did Francesca decide she needed to do this, and how has it changed her work life? And why was her company willing to pay tuition of $85,500?
